SNAP Recertification in November 2025: What You Need to Know About Renewing Your Food Stamps

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) gives millions of families in the United States help to buy food.

If you receive SNAP benefits, you must regularly recertify to prove you still qualify. This process is called SNAP recertification, and it is important to keep your benefits active.

What Is SNAP Recertification?

SNAP recertification is a process where you renew your SNAP application to show that you still meet the rules about income, expenses, and family size.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) uses recertification to double-check that you are still eligible.

If you do not finish your recertification on time, you will stop receiving funds on your EBT card and have to apply again from the beginning. That is why it’s very important to do this step.

When Is the SNAP Recertification Deadline in November 2025?

The deadline to complete SNAP recertification depends on your state, but most people whose benefits are set to expire in November 2025 must finish the process by November 30.

The USDA requires that you get a notification at least 30 days before your benefits are set to expire.

Some states, such as California, Texas, and Florida, let you recertify online, by phone, or in-person. However, you may need to provide extra paperwork if your income or household has changed.

In emergencies, states can sometimes extend the certification period or make the process easier.

How Do You Know If You Need to Renew?

If your recertification is required in November 2025, your local SNAP office will notify you by mail, text, or email. This notice will tell you exactly when you must renew and what steps to take.

You can also check your status online through your state's Department of Social Services website or your EBT Edge account.

If you do not renew on time, your SNAP benefits will stop on the first day of the next month.

Tips to Avoid Losing Your SNAP Benefits

  • Check your mail, email, and any messages from your SNAP office often.
  • Update your information if you move or your income changes.
  • Submit your forms at least two weeks before the deadline.
  • Keep your confirmation or proof that you sent in your paperwork.

Recertifying your SNAP benefits on time in November 2025 is important so your food stamps continue without a break. Do not wait until the last moment—gather your documents and complete your renewal as soon as possible.
